  Ayurvedic Consultation

Ayurveda is a holistic healing science which is comprised of two words, Ayu and Veda. Ayu means life and Veda means knowledge or science. So the literal meaning of the word Ayurveda is the science of life. Ayurveda is a science dealing not only with treatment of some diseases but is also a lifestyle.
During your initial Ayurvedic consultation, your original constitution (prakruti) and current state of doshas (vikruti) will be assessed using different techniques and evaluation methods, such as pulse diagnosis, breathing capacity and form, diet, skin type, etc, so as to create an individualized program according to your specific situation.
Recommendations may consist of proper diet, gradual lifestyle changes that may include yoga and meditation, herbal treatment with Ayurvedic herbs and/or cleansing and rejuvenating or Panchakarma therapies to remove deep seated toxins.
You will leave the appointment with easy to follow guidelines to help restore balance and enhance your body’s own healing process. Benefits are typically noticed in the first few weeks.
A typical session lasts about an hour and arms you with the following:

  1. Dietary Information
  2. Herbal supplements recommended for nourishing and balancing the systems of the body
  3. Lifestyle recommendations (if needed)
  4. Detox programs (when needed)
  5. Side benefits rather than side effects
  6. Complete knowledge of your body and your constitution
  7. Support for implementations of change in your health

Follow-up consultations are of the utmost importance in Ayurveda, since those are the times when we can review your program; find what works for you and what may need adjusting, or even for encouragement! Throughout your follow-ups you will deepen the understanding of your constitution and how internal and external factors affect you, as well as how to thwart or reverse these factors. In Ayurveda, health is a long term commitment with yourself.
